About us
Bufeto Institute is the first professional organisation in Slovenia dedicated to creating and developing clown and circus theatre as well as the field of contemporary circus.
Its core activities include the creation of original productions and participation in co-productions, the International Festival of Contemporary Clown and New Circus Klovnbuf, and its own educational program, the Bufeto Laboratory, for young professionals, alongside creative and educational programs for children and youth. Between 2023 and 2025, as part of the official EPK GO! 2025 program, the Institute carried out the international project Clown City. It also regularly runs the program Circulating – Culture at Your Doorstep, which takes place in various neighbourhoods of Ljubljana.
Regular collaboration with Slovenian and international theatre institutions, partners, and individual artists enables the exchange of knowledge and continuous engagement with the latest trends in contemporary circus arts.
In addition to its co-founders Ravil and Natalie Sultanov, graduates of the Moscow Academy of Circus Arts and recipients of the Župančič Award, the Institute brings together other distinguished professional and amateur artists from all generations.
